This is a sleeper of an album. Freed from the Spacemen 3 shackles, Sonic Boom went on to forge a far more experimental furrow than organ whore Jason Pierce's over-rated Spiritualized project..
Let's get one thing straight. This album is hard work. First listen will make you scratch your head. Tenth listen you will wonder what you are doing. After a while though, the dense wall of sophorific noise will be tugging on your ears.
The whale-like bleats of the Drunk Suite will beguile you. The honey-like croonings of To The Moon And Back will make your heart soar and then you are hooked.
Strangely more drugged, distorted, soulfull and special than any of the Spacemen's
stuff, this is an album of beguling beauty. Catch it while you can.
