You're Gonna Die... (4/5)

Ron Asheton of The Stooges plays some heavy riffage throughout this foot to the floor album. X Ray Specs with spunk. A compilation of their first three singles and an unreleased track.

Bored and Die Young have all the forward thrust of a Boeing 747, with some lethargic vocals from ex-model come punk songstress Niagara. Great sub-stooges riffs are the order of the day, nicely juxtaposed by the laconic vocals and some spaced-out sax.

The riffing continues unabashed on the rest of the album. The November 22nd 1963 is the most full-on track here, referring to the assassination of JFK. "Jackie! JACKIE! - Hang on his brains!" Meet The Creeper is a gutter punk - garage band tribute to Rondo Hatton. Nobody knows and What Do I get see a new sound - a nicely thickened and fuzzed up wall of noise. Pounding Detroit guitars and drums. Super, smashing, great! Nothing particularly original or mind-blowing, but none the less infectious.

The final track, previously unreleased is the weakest here, lacking Niagara's great vocals, but charming in its slacker minded lack of cares. This album is a short sharp kick to the dancing glands. It won't change your life, but then again, who likes gurus anyway? Play loud and enjoy.
