Slowdive - Alison Video
Another band I missed when they were out and about. I've only gotten into Slowdive the last couple of years. The name struck a bell down the years, but I'd never heard their music until I discovered that we shared a song title in 'Catch The Breeze' - wanting to hear their one I got a copy to listen to and was hooked on their sound from the off. Swirling guitars, dubby tints, dreamy vocals and wistful words - what's not to like?
Releasing the bulk of the work in the first half of the 90s, I spent a lot of last year listening to 1993's Souvlaki LP. Today's video is the opening track from said same album. It's not a particularly great video, but the song itself has to be one of my favourites from the past two years (although not from the last two years.) A great feel good song dripped in glistening layers of noise, it never fails to put a smile on my miserable old face.
